Uso de wearables no monitoramento contínuo de pacientes com hipertensão arterial
Main Article Content
Abstract
This study aimed to examine and analyze scientific publications related to the use of wearable devices for continuous, real-time blood pressure monitoring in patients with systemic arterial hypertension (SAH). This is a bibliometric, quantitative, and descriptive study based on the U.S. National Library of Medicine (PubMed) database. The combined terms were Wearables, Hypertension, and "Continuous monitoring". Furthermore, we adopted inclusion criteria related to articles published from 2004 to 2024, in English, Portuguese, and Spanish, with free access. After analysis and exclusions, the final sample consisted of 28 articles. The results show a considerable increase in the number of studies in the last five years, with emphasis on 2024, the year in which the largest number of studies were recorded. A predominance of publications from the United States, China, and the Netherlands was noted, with the journal Sensors (Basel, Switzerland) being the main vehicle for scientific dissemination on the subject. In general, the literature reviewed points to limited collaborations between research groups and the advancement of non-invasive technologies focused on continuous blood pressure monitoring. It is concluded that the use of wearables reflects a growing and hopeful trend in digital health, promoting self-care, remote monitoring, and the prevention of cardiovascular complications. However, scientific gaps still exist related to clinical validation, international cooperation, and equal access to these innovative technologies.
