A ATUAÇÃO DO FARMACÊUTICO EM PACIENTES ACOMETIDAS PELO CÂNCER DO COLO DE ÚTERO

Abstract

Cervical cancer, also known as cervical cancer, is caused by an infection by some types of human papillomavirus (HPV), which is responsible for playing a central role in carcinogenesis of the uterine cervix. HPV infection is considered the most prevalent sexually transmitted infection (STI) in the world. The highest numbers of cases of cervical cancer are in regions with low economic development, which are associated with difficulties in accessing public health, prevention measures, health education and vaccination. Bearing in mind that cervical cancer is a preventable disease and due to the number of women it affects, it is necessary to monitor these by a multidisciplinary health team and as a member, the role of the pharmacist in relation to this disease is described, in order to contribute to the reduction of cases, diagnoses of existing cases and the dissemination of information as preventive measures. A bibliographic review of integrative synthesis was carried out, with the objective of analyzing the role of the pharmacist in the prevention and treatment of this cancer in women. The databases analyzed were Scielo, Google Scholar, PubMed and BVS. The study period took place between August 2021 and June 2022. Cervical cancer is a disease caused by exposure to HPV and co-related to associated risk factors. As a form of prevention, we have the Papanicolaou exam, vaccination and health education. As forms of treatment, we have the use of drugs, chemotherapy and radiotherapy. In all the aforementioned actions, the active role of the pharmacist can be seen, contributing from diagnosis and prevention to treatment of the disease.
