A CRIANÇA SURDA E O DESENVOLVIMENTO DA LINGUAGEM NUMA CONCEPÇÃO PEDAGÓGICA
Abstract
This article is a bibliographic review on the education of deaf children with an
em-phasis on language acquisition in the first years of life. The main objective was to discuss
the importance of language acquisition as a form of expression in deaf chil-dren. This approach
was based on theoretical foundations. For a better understand-ing, the text presents a
historical and theoretical explanation about deafness, the importance of language, as well as
the education of the deaf in Brazil. To carry out this research, authors who develop studies in
thematic fields related to the inclusion process were used, such as: the theoretical assumptions
of the Historical-Cultural Theory defended by Vigotsky (1989; 1996; 1997; 2000; 2009);
Mantoan (2003); Kings (2013); among others. The analysis points out that the trajectory of
education for the deaf has historicity in inclusive education. It was observed that in the course
of education for the development of language in deaf children, there were long peri-ods of
struggle to provide the achievement of achievements for the rights of deaf people. It also showed that there was an improvement in methodologies that favor the child's development in
its different aspects, especially the ability to express and communicate, moving from oralism,
total communication to bilingualism. In the end, it was concluded that deaf people have their
own community with their own lan-guage, so deaf children can develop language like hearing
children, but in the form of signs, a means by which they can communicate and develop
psychically.
