ABORTO NA ATUALIDADE: PERPCTIVAS E ABORDAGENS

Abstract

The complexity of physiopathological processes, diverse types, and significant prevalence of events related to abortion have aroused growing interest in the scientific and medical community.Spontaneous abortion is the unprovoked death of the fetus or embryo, or the excretion of products of conception before the 20th week of gestation.Objective: To provide guidance on the causes and different types of abortions, identifying their prevalences and risks, and outlining the appropriate actions to be taken in specific situations, where nursing professionals will be prepared to support these patients. Methodology: This is an integrative review as it is a broader method that allows for the inclusion of both theoretical and empirical knowledge, as well as studies with different methodological approaches: quantitative and qualitative. Results and Discussions: We recommend public education on the subject and further research to deepen our understanding of issues related to abortion. Final Considerations: It is observed that several changes still need to occur, such as reducing the high abortion rates in Brazil and, consequently, maternal mortality, which is due to the deficient provision of sexual and reproductive healthcare in the country.
